Very fragrant, large, fully double blooms of pure white (with just the occasional blush) open from buds that are covered in soft green 'moss'. A lovely rose that will perform best if protected from harsh afternoon sun. Prune immediately after the summer flowering if required. 1788.

This rose is named after the famous garden of Empress Josephine - wife of Napoleon Bonaparte who collected roses from all over the world. Blooms are delicately perfumed, double, quartered and blush white with pink shadings. Likes a sunny position as this Madame doesn't like getting wet 1843   Souvenir de La Malmaison Current Stock Height: 20/30cm  ?  Container: pb8  ?  $45.99 Bourbon. This French bred rose has 'old world' charm but actually was only released in 2000. Highly perfumed blooms that are large, loose, double and cupped in a shade of soft lilac pink. Golden stamens complete the picture. The plant is bushy and healthy, producing plenty of blooms. PVR.

Deep cerise or magenta- pink double blooms that flower in flushes throughout the season. Beautifully fragrant flowers.  Vigorous plant with bright green foliage.  Available only in Australia and New Zealand. Bred by Antoine Levet (père) (France, 1889).     Souvenir de Monsieur Bruel Current Stock Height: 10/20 cm  ?  Container: pb8  ?  $45.99 Gallica. An upright rose that is a natural 'sport' from rose 'Tuscany'. The strong stems have few thorns and the dark crimson flowers are very strongly scented. The flowers are semi-double and have a nice prominent display of golden stamens.  An easy to grow rose that flowers in early summer 1848
   Tuscany Superb Current Stock Height: 20/40 cm  ?  Container: pb8  ?  $45.99 aka aka Old Velvet Moss Moss. A tall and vigorous rose with sprays of buds covered in green 'moss' that open out to large crimson-purple, informal blooms that gently fade to soft mauve. Deliciously fragrant. Flowers in early summer only but well worth planting. From France 1855.
 
   William Lobb Current Stock Height: 20/40 cm  ?  Container: pb8  ?  $45.99 Rugosa.  A bushy rose with dense growth and crinkled green foliage. The flowers are fully double and strongly scented in tones of amber yellow fading to white. Repeats well throughout the summer. Beautifully formed flowers with a strong fragrance.  Just delightful.  This rose is found growing wild in the countryside in many parts of NZ. 1837.
   Anais Segales Expected Stock Height: 20/40 cm  ?  We will not have this plant 2025/26.   Hybrid Musk.  Long arching sprays of single, small, pink blooms with a white centre and a soft  fragrance. Very dainty and delightful, continuously in bloom. Good ornamental hips in autumn.  Superb rose as shrub, pillar or standard. RHS AGM. 1937.

As with all Rugosas this is a hardy and tolerant rose that copes well with poorer soils and even a little shade.  Originally found in areas of Russia, China and Japan. Hips are used for Jam, Jelly and Tea.
